Congratulations to Edinburgh Student Housing Co-operative (ESHC) and SEASALT (Brighton) Student Housing Co-operative who both picked up awards at the recent CCH Conference, held in Warwick. This is a fantastic achievement for both co-ops. Well done to everyone involved.

SEASALT won the ‘Young Co-operators of the Year‘ category. SEASALT have been living in the property just over 12 months and it is fantastic to see them recognised for all their hard work. SEASALT aims to demonstrate the value of housing co-ops for providing affordable housing and helping reach sustainability and net-zero emissions targets. In partnership with Brighton and Hove Community Land Trust, SEASALT is also committed to make the house as accessible as possible.

Edinburgh won the ‘Sustainability at Home‘ category for their basement conversion, pictured below from basement carport to event and training space. To promote sustainable transport members of ESHC also built a large bike rack and re-laid the floor with wooden flooring re-purposed from a school.
